He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand and the Cook Islands, and then attended and graduated from Brigham Young University in Hawaii, summa cum laude, with a degree in International Business Management. He speaks Cook Island Maori, Tongan, and English.
He met and married his wife, Elenoa, at BYU Hawaii, and attended law school at Texas Wesleyan Law in Fort Worth, Texas. He moved up to Utah after graduation where he has been working in-house with a franchisor since 2007. As a Utah franchise lawyer, he has worked with several renowned attorneys throughout the country to learn franchise law in detail. David has two children, Ailine and Kawika, and a little poodle named Rusty.
